FAQs

What is the role of a Disc Jockey/MC Interactive Entertainer?

A Disc Jockey/MC Interactive Entertainer is experienced and detail-oriented in weddings, Mitzvahs and all types of events. They are skilled at crowd motivation and keep guests involved throughout your event using just the right mix of music, dance, and audience participation. At Marlin DJs, our Disc Jockey/MC Interactive Entertainers create the party atmosphere you prefer, whether you choose elegance and refinement, high energy and excitement or something in between.

Will your Disc Jockey play my requests?

Absolutely. Our Confirmation Letter will include a list of the Most Requested Songs. Highlight the songs you would like to hear and indicate the songs you do not want to hear. If you don’t see a particular song on our list, write it down and we will get it for you. Our Disc Jockey/MC Interactive Entertainer will take your requests and work them in with songs he feels will properly motivate your guests. On the day of your event, he will be happy to take requests from your guests also.

What are Party Props?

They are theme props that coordinate with the music and are presented at just the right moment to add creativity and fun to your event. They are great crowd pleasers making for priceless pictures and impressionable memories, and your guests may keep them as a souvenir of your unique event. Some of the party props we use are: Glow necklaces, assorted hats, inflatable instruments, and much, much more. You can choose from our list or we can make suggestions based on your theme.

Will my Disc Jockey contact me prior to my event?

A meeting will be scheduled in our office 2 weeks prior to your event to review all the details of your event, including the proper pronunciation for the introductions, ceremonies, and specialty dances, etc. We will also review your music selections and make any changes necessary. Voiceovers will be recorded and you will be able to meet with your DJ. We are always accessible, and you should not hesitate to call if you have any questions or concerns.

What is the Booking Process?

1) Call to see if we are available on your date.

2) Fill out the Agreement Form and return one signed copy with your deposit of 25%. Keep the other copy for your records. You may pay by check or money order, or we accept Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

3) Upon receipt of the signed Agreement and your deposit, we will reserve your date and time and send you a Confirmation Letter, our Event Planning Guide, and the Most Requested Song List. You will bring your Planning Guide and Song List to a final meeting scheduled 2 weeks prior to your event. Final payment is due at your final meeting. Please make checks payable to Marlin Disc Jockeys.

How long in advance should I book my entertainment?

Most reputable entertainment companies are booked at least one year in advance, sometimes more. Therefore we suggest you book your entertainment right after you have booked your banquet facility. For Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, most reputable entertainment is retained as soon as the synagogue date has been set. The same holds true for weddings or arrangements can be made for invoicing over the period of time before the event. Parties and events may have a shorter booking timeframe, but don’t wait.

What type of attire does the MC and Disc Jockey wear?

Our  Entertainers are required to wear formal attire to every event. If the occasion is a casual or themed event, our MC or DJ will dress in the attire the client deems appropriate.

Are there any fees for setup or breakdown?

No. We will arrive at your event location prior to the start of your event, allowing us sufficient time to unload, setup and perform a sound check. There is no charge for travel time, setup or breakdown.

What types of music will be played?

Remember – it’s your event – you can select the music of your choice. At Marlin DJs, our state-of-art sound systems contain an extensive selection of music consisting of Club Dance, Classic Rock, Country, Oldies, Big Band, Motown, R & B, Rap, Disco, Hip-Hop, Ethnic (all types, including Klezmer) and much more. We screen all our music, so music with questionable content will not be played. We have everything from the 1940’s to today’s top 40. Subscribing to three national music services, we have all of today’s latest hits so we can play all the kids’ current favorites. There are music choices for every age group.

What is a Party Motivator?

We use Party Motivators primarily for a Bar/Bat Mitzvah. They are male and female dancers with outgoing personalities who use their dance skills and techniques to interact with your guests and to motivate them to join in the fun and excitement of the event. We have found that this creates an amazing energy for your celebration.
